Aquinas Consulting is excited to announce its fourth annual scholarship, which has been awarded to three students. The recipients from the 2020 graduating class include Emily Matson of Pomperaug High School, Katie Linn of Jonathan Law High School, and Briana Gralia of University of Mary Washington. These recipients have been chosen due to their impressive involvement in their respective schools and communities.
Katie Linn attended Jonathan Law High School where she played Varsity Soccer all four years. She participated in many clubs throughout high school and she served as Vice President of Natural Helpers, Senator of Interact Club, and Senator in Model UN. Katie was also a part of the National Honors Society. Outside of school, she danced at Lee Lund for seven years. Katie volunteered for multiple organizations such as Retail 101, MS Society, Boys and Girls Club. She served lunch to those in need at the Beth El Soup Kitchen here in Milford. In the fall, Katie will be attending the University of Vermont.
Emily Matson attended Pomperaug High School where she was an active member of the marching band throughout her four years. She participated in Unified Sports as a buddy to special athletes, walked in the annual Harvest Walks for Hunger, volunteered as a Camp Counselor at the local YMCA Camp, and was heavily involved in many of her church’s community projects. She spent most of her life as a Girl Scout, and she earned her Bronze Award. Emily will be attending Delaware Technical College in the fall where she will be studying to become a teacher.
Briana Gralia graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BS in Psychology. Briana is part of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honor society, where she served as secretary last year and will be taking over as President this year. She ran cross country and track for Mary Washington for her first two years of college and was a part of the Love Your Melon club, which conducted events to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer patients. Briana has worked as a busser at a local fine dining steak house, Fahrenheit 132, and soon will be moving up to bartending soon. She will be continuing at University of Mary Washington for a Masters of Elementary Education in the fall. Briana intends to pursue her PhD so that one day she can make a difference in the administration of an inner-city school district and encourage students to pursue their goals.
Through these three students’ involvement, they have made a difference in their schools and local communities. They have also become leaders for others to look up to. Each student has individually made a unique impact on their respective clubs, sports, and places of work. Aquinas Consulting is proud to award Katie Linn, Emily Matson, and Briana Gralia with the Aquinas Consulting Scholarship, and we wish them the best of luck in their pursuit of a higher education.
